How it works

How It Works

Stableworx connects horse owners and enthusiasts with a local, experienced horse person in minutes!

Stableworx members may act as both Service Providers and Clients; however, the ability to post a listing is reserved only for verified members offering services.

Learn more about the process of How It Works below.

Horse/Livestock Owners & Riders

1. Sign up for your free user account.

Become a member here. You'll need to confirm your email address.

2. Set up your Stableworx Profile

Set up your profile with lots of details about who you are, your experience with horses and livestock, all about your horses and pets, and what you love most about farm life!

Post a clear, quality photo of yourself. The best photos are portraits taken of you and a horse or other farm animal in the same image.

Remember: Service Providers may be interviewing you as much as you are reviewing their profile before agreeing to a booking. Reviews go both ways on Stableworx so you'll want to create a good-looking profile even if you won't be acting as a Service Provider. This creates a better community feel for everyone.

There are some pre-filled dropdown boxes with information that would apply to your business (whether or not it's insured, that you have or will sign liability release waivers at the time of service, etc.). If you're not planning to provide services through the marketplace, you could just leave those blank.

3. Browse Service Offerings

Browse through live listings here and find an equine or livestock Service Provider who seems like the best fit for you.

Listings are sorted by Type and by Category. You can also search by Location and by Price.

You're able to message Service Providers by clicking the "Contact" button near their profile on the listing page. Ask them for more information, share some details about what your horse(s) need, or confirm their availability.

4. Schedule & Book the Service

Click the Request or Book Button- you will not be charged yet, but this will allow you to lock in your dates and times with the Service Provider's given availability before someone else does.

The transaction will take place once the Service Provider accepts your request. If the Service Provider doesn’t reply within 3 days - the request will be canceled and the funds will not be transferred. The payout to the Service Provider is held by Stripe until the job is done to your satisfaction and you mark the job "Complete."

You are protected by our Reservation Protection Policy. The policy ensures that you will be fully refunded in the unlikely event a Service Provider needs to cancel- we'll even attempt to find a fill-in for you.

1% of all Stableworx revenue is donated to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations that advocate for horses in need of good homes.

5. Barn Tours for First-Time Visits

Should a Service Provider need to book an initial meet-and-greet on your farm or a farm you board at, please communicate dates and times through the chat or confirm that your barn manager will allow it.

For more information on best practices for Barn Tours, please read this article in our Help Center here.

Make sure to have the Service Provider sign any liability waivers that you may have at this time and leave them with instructions and emergency contact information.

Always post the Equine Liability Law sign applicable to your state near a main barn door.

Use of security cameras in the barm to keep on eye on things while you are away is a great idea, but please make your Service Provider aware of their locations.

6. Start of Service

Your Service Provider will check-in via the Stableworx chat once he or she arrives on-site if you are away, but you can always reach out through the chat or text/call your Provider. Should you have any issues, please reach out to us at info@stableworx.com

For virtual lessons or consultations, click the video chat link (you'll find it on your Service Provider's profile page) at the scheduled time.

7. Mark the Job as Complete

Enjoy your time away or your class! Once the job is done, please make sure to mark the job complete so that your Service Provder will recieve his or her payout.

8. Leave your Service Provider a Review.

Please keep reviews honest and respectful. Some testimonials may be featured on our social media pages.

Equine/Livestock Service Providers & Riding Instructors

If you're looking to find gigs working with horses or to grow your client base, here's how to get started on Stableworx:

Check off any of the pre-filled dropdown boxes with information that would apply to your business (whether or not it's insured, that you have or will sign liability release waivers at the time of service, etc.). You can also add more details about your terms or business setup in your profile description or listings.

Add your Zoom or other video chat account link if you are planning on offering virtual lessons or consultations.

3. Fill out the Service Provider Profile Review Form

The profile review form can be found here.

It's important for us to screen Service Providers so that the Stableworx community is kept safe and there are high standards for the horses and other hobby farm animals.

The form will include the following sections (which you can complete in any order and at your own pace):

  • Section 1. General Information
  • Section 2. References & Online Presence
  • Section 3. Professional Documents & Education
  • Section 4. Credentials, Photos, & Preferences
  • Section 5. Safety Quiz
  • Section 6. Terms of Service

Make sure you complete the form with as much detail as possible, upload photos and/or videos of yourself working with or riding horses, and complete the Horse Handling Safety Quiz.

If you’re offering professional services that require a license or certification, please upload copies of those documents. The more detailed information you provide, the easier it will be for the Stableworx team to assess your experience working with horses.

4. Review everything one last time, then click Submit.

Your form and safety quiz will be reviewed by one of our team members once this action is taken.

5. Complete a Basic Background Check by Checkr

Should the Stableworx team decide you're a good fit for the marketplace, you'll then receive an email from us with instructions on how to complete a quick Basic Background Check through Checkr, a third-party-provider.

Background checks are important to give your future clients peace of mind and to start the relationship with trust. This is an essential step that all Service Providers pass to be part of the Stableworx community.

Note: The information you provide for a background check will remain strictly confidential.

6. Start posting live listings for your horse and farm services

Keep an eye on your e-mail. We'll notify you if your Service Provider profile has been approved within 7 business days. Once you're approved, your posting permissions will be set to "Active Posting." You'll then be able to post live listings for your services on the Stableworx marketplace, book gigs, and get paid!

To post a listing, click the "Post A Listing" button. First, choose a category and any applicable subcategories, then fill out the form with detailed information about your service offering.

Add clear, quality photos of you and the horses you've worked with before to better present yourself to the future clients.

Go here for free templates to use- cover all your bases and make your listing(s) stand out! Add any of your own custom details and terms.

All listings will be approved by a Stableworx admin before going live. Should you need to update a listing, it will need to be re-approved each time.

7. Get notified by e-mail when you receive a booking request.

Message the farm or horse owner to go over details regarding their request (horse and livestock amounts and details, what tasks are required, location of the farm, emergency contact info, etc,).

You can use one of our free horse detail forms as a template for questions you need answered before deciding to accept a booking.

You will have 3 days to accept the booking before the request is canceled.

8. Accept the booking.

Make sure "Accept the request and keep the listing open" is highlighted in green.

Then, click "Accept."

Your client will recieve an email notice that you accepted their request for services.

You can still continue to message your client for details and, if needed, set up an appointment for an initial Barn Tour if this will be your first visit to his or her property. Barn Tours are recommended before a visit at a farm where you haven't visited before.

For more information on best practices for Barn Tours, please read this article in our Help Center here.

Please follow our safety guidelines and know that you may cancel your booking within 24 hours of the date of service for any reason.

9. Arrive for your scheduled service(s)

Show up at the times requested and for the amount of time decided upon for the visit(s).

For horse care & farm visits: make sure to check in with the owner once you arrive via the Stableworx chat. Bring along one of our checklists to make sure you do the most thorough job possible to ensure great reviews after the visit(s)! Leave notes in the Stableworx chat with a report of your visit and any details.

For virtual lessons or consultations, make sure to be available on your preferred video app at the scheduled time.

10. The horse owner or participant will mark the job as completed.

You will then be sent your payout via Stripe (minus platform fees).

He or she will also leave a review on your profile. You are also able to leave a review on the client's profile of how your visit went. Please keep reviews honest and respectful.
